Alarm Shift does not collect, transmit, or share your personal data.
There are no accounts, no analytics, no advertising, and no servers operated by us. Everything the app knows about you stays on your device and is deleted when you uninstall the app.
All of the following is kept in local storage on your phone. None of it leaves the device.
| Data | Why |
|---|---|
| Alarm times, labels, repeat days, chosen sound | To ring your alarms |
| Wake-up device setup (Wi-Fi network name, Bluetooth device name, sensitivity) | To detect when you're near your chosen device so the alarm can be dismissed |
| Signal calibration values | To convert signal strength into a distance estimate for your specific room |
| Sleep sessions (when the alarm rang, when you dismissed it) | To show your wake-up history and let Smart Shift learn your rhythm |
| Preferences (language, clock style, work days, usual bed/wake times) | To keep the app set up the way you like it |
| Custom recorded or imported alarm sounds | To play the sound you chose |
| Permission | Purpose |
|---|---|
POST_NOTIFICATIONS | To show the alarm when it fires, including when the app is closed |
USE_EXACT_ALARM / SCHEDULE_EXACT_ALARM | To ring at the exact minute you set. Android otherwise batches wake-ups and the alarm would fire late |
NEARBY_WIFI_DEVICES (Android 13+)ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION (Android 12 and older) | Used only to read Wi-Fi signal strength (RSSI) for proximity detection. Android requires a location permission to expose signal strength — the app does not use GPS, does not determine or store your location, and this data never leaves your device. On Android 13+ the permission is declared neverForLocation |
ACCESS_WIFI_STATE, ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE | To read the signal strength of the Wi-Fi network you selected |
VIBRATE, WAKE_LOCK | To vibrate and wake the screen when the alarm rings |
RECEIVE_BOOT_COMPLETED | To restore your scheduled alarms after the phone restarts |
INTERNET | Only used if you connect Google Calendar, or enter the address of your own RuView device. The app makes no other network requests |
Smart Shift is off by default. If you choose to connect Google Calendar,
the app requests read-only access
(https://www.googleapis.com/auth/calendar.readonly) and reads only the
start time, title and status of events in roughly the next 48 hours,
so it can move your alarm earlier for a new early meeting or let you sleep in when
something is cancelled.
We do not read attendees, descriptions or attachments, and calendar content is never stored on a server or shared. Disconnecting the calendar in Settings removes the local data immediately.
If you subscribe, the transaction is processed by Google Play. We never see or store your card details. Google processes your payment under its own privacy policy, and the app only receives a signal indicating whether your subscription is active. Manage or cancel any time in Google Play → Subscriptions.
Because we hold no personal data about you, there is nothing for us to export, correct or delete on your behalf. Everything the app stores is on your device and is removed entirely when you uninstall it, or via Android Settings → Apps → Alarm Shift → Storage → Clear data. If you are in the EEA or UK, note that the GDPR rights of access, rectification and erasure apply to data a company holds — we hold none.
App data is kept in your device's private app storage, protected by Android's app sandbox and your device lock. Since nothing is transmitted to us, there is no server-side copy to breach.
Alarm Shift is not directed at children under 13 and collects no data from anyone. It is rated for general audiences and contains no ads and no user-generated content.
If this policy changes, the date at the top is updated and the revised policy is posted at this address.
